Crew and passengers 1828-1841

This index was developed from Joan Reese's NSW Colonial Secretary's In Letters Index 1826-1895.

72 crew lists from the years 1828 to 841 were identified by Mrs Reese in her original index, however the names on the crew lists were not individually indexed. Mrs Aileen Trinder of Pastkeys has listed the names on each of the lists to create this index.

The lists were located as enclosures to correspondence sent to the NSW Colonial Secretary's Office. In many cases the associated correspondence concerns the crew lists, for example contracts and agreements relating to the voyage and cargo lists.

This index is not a complete list of all crew arriving in New South Wales between 1828 and 1841. Indeed crew lists were not regularly kept until 1854 onwards. See the Crew records guide for more information. However, this index may be of assistance for those looking for crew.
