Hyde Park Barracks Weddings

In the heart of the city surrounded by sandstone walls, host an elegant evening marquee wedding reception in the southern courtyard of Hyde Park Barracks Museum.

Marquees offer a blank canvas and the opportunity to curate your dream wedding – from a clear marquee with hanging florals and fairy lights, to a classically idyllic white tent filled with romantic décor, the options are endless.

Venue hire is based on three days of hire, including a dedicated day for your marquee set-up and pack-down. We work with a range of marquee suppliers who can also provide your styling elements including tables, chairs, cocktail furniture, and tabletop décor.

For cocktail marquee receptions, you have the option of hosting your wedding ceremony within your marquee and continuing the celebrations on site during your booking time.

For sit-down dinner receptions, an offsite ceremony location would be required. There are many gorgeous options located close by including The Mint conveniently located just next door for up to 180 guests, and Elizabeth Bay House for an intimate ceremony for up to 100 guests.

Our hospitality partner on site is Pearl Catering. Pearl’s team of restaurant and catering professionals bring a true commitment to event management, creativity and innovation using only the finest and sustainable ingredients sourced from Sydney’s top providores with clients including Cartier, Dior, Opera Australia, Range Rover and more.

We also welcome Gold Licensed Caterers upon application (fees applicable). We highly recommend all caterers arrange a site inspection with the venue prior to quoting if they have not worked on site given the heritage nature of our venue.

Please note for bookings where a wedding ceremony is being hosted at The Mint prior to Hyde Park Barracks, Pearl Catering are the exclusive caterer for both your wedding ceremony and reception and will collaborate with you on a menu for your special day.

A dedicated member of our friendly venue services team at Hyde Park Barracks will work closely with you to ensure that every detail of your special day is meticulously considered. Our dedicated professionals will ensure a truly memorable day.

Your marquee is the perfect structure in the case of fine or wet weather to host your guests on your special day. Our team will work with you on developing both a fine and wet weather floor plan, so there are no surprises on the day.

If there are significant amounts of rain forecast, speak with our team about additional pop-up pagoda options and pathway umbrellas for your guests to increase the footprint (supplied by your nominated marquee supplier).

• Please note the museum is open to the public seven days a week from 10am to 6pm
• All events on site are upon application and relate to the use of the Southern Courtyard only in the evening (day events are available on application, conditions apply).
• Green/wedding rooms are subject to availability and allocated on the day of your event
• A bond is applicable for all events on site
• Rose petals, rice, glitter and the like are not permitted. We recommend bubbles as an alternative
• There is no smoking on our sites, including vaping (refer to The Smoke Free Environment Act). Smoke machines are not permitted on site.
• Due to the nature of our site, cloaking services are not included in your hire.
• There is on-street parking on Hospital Road, or at the Domain car park. Suppliers can deliver into the venue via the forecourt of the museum; this will be mapped out with your Venue Coordinator at staggered interval.
• All photography is available in external areas of the site only during your booking time.
