Macquarie Street Adventure

These school holidays, Museums of History NSW is partnering with the Parliament of NSW and State Library of NSW for Macquarie St Adventure.

Join us for a range of free drop-in activities at the Hyde Park Barracks and The Mint. You can make your own convict love token, build a paper replica of the UNESCO World Heritage–listed Barracks, get hands on with a convict bricklaying activity and play traditional lawn games.

Get creative with our drop-in workshops and contribute to our growing Hope Garden – part of a dramatic new art installation by renowned multidisciplinary artist Hiromi Tango, Hope. The installation explores ideas and personal stories of hope and connection. Bring along some washed and clean pieces of fabric or old clothing remnants that have a memory or personal story for you and that can be shared and used for creative upcycling!

Please note, lawn games at the Mint will be available from 1.30pm-4.00pm.

As part of Macquarie Street Adventure, before or after your visit to the Hyde Park Barracks, enjoy the rich cultural experiences on offer from our partners along Macquarie St at the Parliament of NSW and State Library of NSW.
