First Nations Community Access to Archives: Bridging Now to Next

Reconciliation Week takes place every year on 27 May to 3 June. The dates coincide with commemorations of the successful 1967 referendum and the 1992 Mabo decision in the High Court of Australia. Both of these events are milestones in our country’s history and serve as examples of what is achievable when there is shared understanding. The theme for this year’s Reconciliation Week is ‘Bridging Now to Next’. Reflecting the ongoing connection between our past, present and future, this theme urges us to continue the journey of reconciliation together and move forward with the guidance of past lessons.

This Reconciliation Week the First Nations Community Access to Archives team at Museums of History NSW will be discussing how improving access to archival material can support the revitalisation and reclamation of First Nations Languages and Cultures.
