Members: Collections in Practice with Sibella Court
Join us for a fascinating conversation between research librarian Dr Matthew Stephens and interior designer and historian Sibella Court, as they explore the role of the Caroline Simpson Library and Research Collection in Sibella’s creative process.
Discover how Sibella used the research collection to bring the history of Longs Lane in The Rocks to life in her designs and learn about other examples of how she incorporates historical research into her work. You’ll have the opportunity to engage with museum objects and to see how research and history inform design.
Matthew and Sibella will delve into the process of using the research collection as a source of inspiration and knowledge for the development of unique and historically rich spaces. They will also share their experiences working with heritage-listed sites and how they balance preserving history with contemporary design.
The conversation will conclude with a Q&A session where you can ask Sibella about her creative process and get insights into her work. Whether you’re a student, professional or someone with an interest in history and design, this exciting opportunity is not to be missed.
Members only session includes light afternoon tea served at 2.30pm, with the talk starting at 3pm.
